If you had to vote for president right now, who would you pick?

Although politics may be considered the ‘third rail’ of blogging, lets see if we can be civil and answer the following anonymous poll question while keeping the comments on the ‘up and up’, despite differences of opinion… 😉

List below:

UPDATE: After nearly 750 participants, the July 2015 results are in:

You are welcome to express your political opinion, however please respect those of others.

After having asked those who happened across this poll, “Who would you vote for president today?” (July 2015), the results are in.

The list of presidential candidates included 15 Republicans, 5 Democrats, and one third-party candidate.

Their portraits are shown below for your reference.

Clearly, Donald Trump is out in front in the Republican field. Bernie Sanders leads the Democrat field – although substantially fewer votes overall (likely based on the political leanings of the majority of those who would visit a preparedness blog).

My instinct is that Trump is out in front because he is not a politician, not part of ‘the establishment’, instead he’s a business man. He pledges that he will take no money from ‘big corp’, lobbyists, etc.. and he speaks his mind – boldly. He is apparently not afraid of stepping on the toes of the ‘politically correct’. His ‘sound’, ‘tone’, and message may be a breath of fresh air for many who are tired of monotone political speeches read from teleprompters and stiff politicians who always have on their painted fake smile while selling this country down the river…

My instinct why Sanders is out in front with the Democrats is because he has latched on to the message of ‘screw the rich’, which rings well with many. Classic divide and conquer. That said, he is at least a full-blown socialist, perhaps further than that… Regardless though, he has tapped into energy.

My big takeaway from this poll is that apparently the majority (D’s and/or R’s) are seemingly ready to ‘revolt’. This does not surprise me personally as I have been feeling the pulse of the general population, despite what the mainstream media tells us. People are fed up. My concern is what the powers-that-be think about this. They need a willing ‘player’, and so far the polls are not serving that up…

I will be doing this poll again in the future to discover if things are shifting. I welcome your comments about how this will shape up as we go forward.
