Something Is Brewing Around Iran
June 23, 2010Permalink

Ten US warships have just entered the Persian Gulf including the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier strike group. This same group of warships had secretly practiced Iranian bombing runs just 2 weeks ago. According to IsraeliNationalNews.com, Israeli military aircraft recently landed at a Saudi base near Tabuk, one of the closest Saudi areas to Iran. Iran is now on ‘War Alert’ and is pouring Revolutionary Guards units with equipment into the Caspian region, according to a report from DEBKAfile, as apparent US troops build up on the northwest border, Azerbaijan. Iran reported on Wednesday that it has enriched dozens of pounds of 17 per cent enriched uranium.
Is this all simply posturing, or could this be a prelude to the actual attack on Iranian nuclear facilities?
The real question I have is, If an attack on Iran takes place, how will that affect the rest of us?
Will the price of oil spike, since so much of the world’s oil must transit through the Strait of Hormuz which is right off the Iranian coastline?
- Answer: Probably, yes, since Iran could threaten to shut down tanker traffic or worse, actually sink a ship.
Will financial markets fall?
- Answer: Probably, yes, since volatility will be so high (it already is), especially if the price of oil jumps to very high levels which would in turn will raise the costs of most manufactured goods.
Will there be Iranian sponsored terrorism?
- Answer: Probably, yes, since Ahmadinejad has always been very clear about his hatred towards the West.
Will Iran launch missiles at Israel?
- Answer: Probably, yes, since they have ballistic missile capability, including the Shahab-3, which can reach any point in Israel in 8 minutes.
Will this escalate into a wider ranging war in the Middle East?
- Answer: Probably, yes, since it is already a powder keg ready to blow with tensions between Israel, Turkey, Lebanon, Hizballa and the Israeli naval blockade against the Gaza strip
Will other countries become involved, such as Russia and China, if such a war escalates?
- Answer: Probably indirectly at first, by supplying weaponry, such as MiG-29 fighter jets, Pantsir short-range air defense systems, the advanced S-300 air defense system, and armored vehicles from Russia while China is aggressively asserting itself in arms sales while also promoting their Shenyang J-11 fighter jet based on the Russian SU-27.
If Israel is attacked, will they use their nuclear weapons?
- Answer: Hopefully NOT, but if they are dealt a severe enough blow, and if their survival depends upon it… they have nuclear-capable ballistic missiles as well as offshore submarines with nuclear-capable cruise missiles.
The above scenarios are only my opinion, but if this does occur, we may all be affected, and perhaps badly. We should be prepared for our own survival. Not that we will be affected directly, but being prepared for the side effects of such an occurrence would be prudent.
It is not unreasonable to be prepared for short term or even long term disruption possibilities, and in fact, it is your responsibility to think it through.
Are you prepared? Where are your investments and how exposed are you to the economic fallout? Keep extra cash on hand. Have extra food on the shelf. Why not keep your gas tank full and a few filled gas cans around. As Gerald Celente often says, “Even if nothing happens, you’ve lost nothing”.
We live in an increasingly dangerous and uptight world while our governments struggle to find new ways to stay in control and keep the economy from completely sinking.
War is one way to do this.
