Trust In Institutions Dramatically Eroding Among Young People

We recently asked you a question regarding the mainstream news media: truth or…?, which is timely regarding a new poll surveying young Americans’ political attitudes, which found millennials have less trust in government than ever before.

Among all of the categories polled, the media came in dead last at 11%.


 
Harvard’s poll showed millennials, defined as peopled aged 18 to 29, have lost trust in major public institutions including the President, the military, Congress, the Supreme Court, and the federal government as a whole.

This chart created by the pollsters shows the steep declines in their “composite trust index”.
The drop is dramatic:

The lowest trust level of them all is that of the media, at only 11%.

Wall Street: 12%
The Congress: 14%
The Federal Government: 20%
The NSA: 24%
Your State Government: 28%
The President: 32%
Your Local Government: 33%
The United Nations: 34%
The Supreme Court: 36%
The U.S. Military: 47%
