What Is Going On With Our Country And Our Guns
Guest post: by Chrstine of FlamingPhoenixFamilyFarm.blogspot.com
PROPOGANDA defined:
1. Publicity to promote something: information put out by an organization or government to promote a policy, idea, or cause
2. Misleading publicity: deceptive or distorted information that is systematically spread
Is what our government is spreading, distorted or deceptive information?
I would say yes.
The definition of an assault or military rifle according to the BATF is a weapon with a selective fire switch which allows the shooter to “switch” the weapon over to full automatic or bursts. Our military uses these such weapons and it has been illegal for just anyone to own since 1968.
I would hate to see what would happen if our military had to use the kind of weapons that we can purchase right now. We would probably not win a battle against a third world country!!!
The weapons that the government is touting as “assault” weapons are not that at all. They are only semiautomatic which means you must pull the trigger for every shot. A Ruger 10/22 is just that type of gun and can be dressed up with plastic furniture to resemble a military M16 rifle but it is still just a 10/22 underneath.
That is similar to the kits that were sold in the late 70′s for VW bugs. You could take the body off and replace it with a replica Ferrari or Lamborghini body. Did that turn that vehicle into a Lamborghini? No it was still a Volkswagen underneath.
I could put on a princess dress, fix my hair and put on make-up, Would that make me a princess? No still just a tom boy that feeds chickens, goats and pigs everyday underneath.
So to lump all the look alike’s in with the real thing is pretty ignorant of the masses. They are uneducated and misinformed… Propaganda has done this misinforming.
History has taught us that a tyrannical government must first disarm the masses before they can take over. This was shown to be quite effective with the reign of Hitler in Nazi Germany starting with the “Gun Control act of 1938″.
Our Second amendment:
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Now alot of people would argue that the term “militia” would mean only the military. But in the times of the colonies it had a very different meaning. This was essentially every free, white male (not being racist, this was the thought process back then).
At the time that the constitution was ratified many of the colonies had laws that forced EVERY HOUSEHOLD to be armed and if you did not have a weapon you could be fined. Virginia passed a law that stated you must go to church on the sabbath and you must bring your gun to church with you.
Our forefathers recognized that a well armed home would be a safer home since criminals will always prey on the ones that can not or are less likely to be able to defend themselves.
To make my point:
Has anyone heard of a crazy man going in and shooting up a local sheriffs office? No… The criminals always go to places that they know will not be armed and will be an easy target. They always go to known “gun free” zones. This is where they will meet with the least resistance and have the best chance of carrying out their evil plans.
Obviously crime rates have not gone down with decreasing the ability to own weapons. For example in New York City where it is pretty much illegal to own guns:
For the first week of this year:
Murder 7
Rape 31
Robbery 384
Felony assault 353
Burglary 329
grand larceny 760
(source: http://www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/downloads/pdf/crime_statistics/cscity.pdf)
How about Washington DC where it is totally illegal to own a gun:
(source: http://www.clrsearch.com/Washington-Demographics/DC/Crime-Rate)
Murder rate is 650% of national average
Rape 121%
Robbery 481%
Assault 288%
Burglary 104%
Larceny 141%
Motor vehicle theft 383%
Looks like gun control has worked well for them…. NOT!!!!!
Here is an entire years worth of data from the entire state of North Carolina which allows permissive open carry:
2010 Crime (Actual Data)
Aggravated Assault 2,796
Arson 247
Burglary 9,325
Forcible Rape 239
Larceny and Theft 22,711
Motor Vehicle Theft 2,665
Murder and Manslaughter 61
Robbery 1,795
They are as an entire state less than the national average. They are very close by Washington DC and New York in terms of location which is why I used them as an example.
And I can only imagine how Obama’s hometown of Chicago ranks with all of their gun control and crime!!!!!
So my point is: The politicians need to grow a brain cell. Look at the statistics. Quit with all of the Nazi type Propaganda and follow our constitution. And really???? Hiding behind a bunch of kids (Obama with the kids at his speech) in hopes of pulling heart strings… That was about as low as it gets. Maybe he should stand next to car wreck survivors and ask to ban all of the cars in the country!!! Or plane wreck victims families…
Does he really think that a 10 year old would have the knowledge of what an assault rifle really is? And why should all the adults in the country think that either? Would they have a kid tell them how they should do their budget??? Yet they are going to have a kid tell them how to control crime????
Hitler disarmed his country before taking over… He knew they could not fight back without weapons… Are we going to turn into the modern day Nazi Germany? Run by a tyrannical leader that first disarms the population, has the constitution changed so that he can run a 3rd term or maybe longer. Uses his executive power to do pretty much as he wills and threatens our congress if they do not bow to his wishes?
Hitler was a smooth talker that slowly manipulated the people into thinking he was the messiah born again. History always repeats itself… Does it not???
This is my opinion. I am sure there are many that would disagree and I will right now agree to disagree with you folks… For the minute I still have the freedom of speech but I am sure that one is on the list also to remove!
Proof: The Founders Wanted Americans Armed

Thanks for your article. I especially like the analogies that you use such as the Volkswagen car kit that made them look like a Ferrari. That is EXACTLY right. Many of these so called ‘assault weapons’ are less powerful than other ‘legal’ guns. Because it looks scary (to them), it must be extra bad, right?
Here’s the thing… in my opinion… This is NOT about logic for the politicians pushing through this gun control legislation. This is actually more sinister than some people may think. It’s like you eluded to regarding old Germany. The only thing standing in their way of total control (and this is all part of the new global control) is our guns. The 2nd Amendment was NOT put in place for hunting or target shooting (although both can be enjoyable side benefits), it was put there as protection from a tyrannical government. Most gullible people today have NOT been taught this and do not understand this. The mere thought of this, frightens them.
The logic is so ridiculously clear that law abiding gun owners will be affected by this legislation (less bullets per magazine, smaller magazines, AR ban, semi-auto ban?, etc…) because criminals and the mentally ill don’t give a $hit about, or even know about the LAW. Therefore, this is clearly an attack on our 2nd Amendment rights, for sinister reasons.
By the way, about the only thing I’m in favor of regarding what I’ve heard or read of all this, is to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill. There are various ways to go about that, but it makes sense, just like background checks for felons, etc.
i agree also about keeping them out of the hands of the criminally insane. The problem with what some folks are trying to push with the mental health system is that if you make every little thing a reportable incident For example How many times has someone ever said “I feel so bad I just wish I could die” Usually with me it is “I wish someone would shoot me”. Well that would be a reportable varbage and keep me from buying a gun because it alludes to suicide. Would I really NO WAY!!!! It is the way I have always described when I am hurting super bad. (I have severe fibromyalgia)
Also with the mandatory reporting the really sinister ones would just quit seeking mental health services if they thought they would be turned in. Many regular Joes may also not seek services that could benefit from it because of fear that they would say something wrong or something be taken out of context and boom they could no longer own a gun.
So in order for that to work it would have to be vary carefully done like that the people would have had to show some signs of violence, have a plan for their violence etc. Which again would be in terms of subjective interpretation by the therapist. This is what Obama wants to have done.
I am just saying it would be sticky and difficult. Now about the whole thing that if you are adjudicated mentally defective (by a court) which is already illegal to own a gun or admitted to an inpatient facility a reporting system for that could be set up.
I agree with your statements. It is a delicate thing to be sure. A thing that bothers me is the fact that the main stream media (no surprise) has not addressed the issue of the pharmaceutical drugs given to young people, which come with the potential of terrible side effects that may have been a factor in these school shootings. We can’t drink and drive without risking our lives or arrest and loss of privileges, but we do not pursue the effects of drugs being taken by a murderer who had mental problems and whose Uncle (I think it was his uncle) said he was taking pills for it…?
In any event, this (the mental health issue) is the least of my worries regarding the overall push towards gun control right now. They are trying to take a BIG chunk, right now. Obama has coordinated efforts with STATE legislatures who are all, right now, bombarding with new State legislation to even further ban and/or limit guns, magazines, and ammunition. It is an all out assault, all at once, and they are doing it very quickly.
Law abiding gun owners better wake the hell up and email, write, and call their representatives about this, right now, or they will have NO EXCUSE when the laws are enacted in a matter of weeks or so…
There are a few states who are saying not just no to the weapons ban but HECK NO!. Wyoming has already enacted a multi page document and Arkansas is writing up theirs that says that we will refuse to recognize the federal ban on assault rifles and mags and that any federal officer stepping foot into this state to try and enforce will be arrested and charged with a felony.
The problems with these is that fed law trumps state law and there will be a big storm of code brown when it happens and the feds stomp their foot and tells the states you will do as I say. That will I believe be your “tipping point” into the military state.
And the Constitution trumps all of these unconstitutional federal and state laws. The second amendment is clear as crystal, The right of the people to keep and bare arms shall not be infringed. Also anything not specifically granted to the fed in the Constitution is reserved for the states or the people.
I agree, although one wonders how various States have implemented their own draconian gun laws over the years and gotten away with it. Now the Fed is doing the same (or worse) than these particular States…
It’s because we allow it to happen and dont stop them. I am guilty of it, you are, we all are…hell a couple days ago I got a couple sling shots for my boys and had to show my drivers license to buy them. I should have not got them and told them why I would not submit to that crap but I just showed it and complained. If we dont stand up and say no more it will continue.
I agree with the sense of the law here in Michigan needing to take a class and get a ccw permit to carry a handgun concealed. But it is just as unconstitutional as feinstein’s awb. It infringes on the right to carry. No matter if it is a good law, bad law,if everyone agrees with it or not. There is a way to change the constitution if we all want that… BUT the way they are going about it is NOT how it legally is to be done.
Actually, the regulation of sale of fully automatic guns occurred back in the early 1930s, requiring a background check and $200 tax stamp for the gun. This is one of the many questionable uses of the commerce cause of the constitution. In the 1980s, they decided to stop issuing tax stamps, although you could continue to transfer existing guns. In effect, they created a backdoor ban on this class of firearms.
The 1968 act was the one that mandated filling in the form and ended mail order sales of guns.
As soon as we allowed them to start passing laws that limit anything concerning guns we allowed them to undermine the constitution. And we allow it to continue unabated today, read the constitution and see almost the entire thing is being undermined with the supreme courts blessing. How we have allowed them to “interpret” a document that was written so we can all understand it is unbelievable.
I have recently purchased a hard copy of the Constitution before they ban it or change it (I’m half joking, but given what has been happening… it’s not such a bad idea). Until now I’ve kept a few website links to all of the text, but I believe it is important to have a hard copy in your possession. Things are getting real stupid.
To add to the mental health issue. While I completely support keeping guns out of the hands that are actually paranoid schizophrenics and the like, I fear for the veterans returning home from Afganistan that report battlefield induced mental issues such as PTSD to the VA. Will these men and women be targeted as disqualified for gun ownership.
If the government is ready to move into the final stage of a police state or closed society prior to collapse, I could see the government wanting combat trained veterans being disarmed.
Simply things down to high cap magazines, no need to bother with caliber, the way the gun looks, bayonet lugs, pistol grips etc. In reality, a high capacity magazine is the only thing really exacerbating the situation during the commission of a mass shooting–which BTW is really the only big thing on people mind right now.
Any laws would be simple: no magazine that holds over X amount of bullets. This won’t stop/change the nature of crime in any meaningful way, but it would allow us to get this red herring out of the way quicker and easier.
It will come down to how we feel about low cap magazines in relation to 2nd Amendment rights; does it destroy the 2nd Amendment to draw the line there?
@ Jerry
The problem with allowing them to ban X amount of rounds in a mag is three fold:
1. If we roll over easy and say, “okay gov’t, go ahead and ban my 30 round mags”, they’ll say, “wow, that was easy, I wonder what else we can get them to roll over on”, and so the cycle continues until its all banned.
2. The next shooter, say its in NY where they now have a 7 round limit. Now if this shooter brings four 7 round mags with him, equal to 28 rounds of ammo. Lets also say he murders 28 people. So then the gov’t says, well no one complained last time we banned X amount of rounds, so now let’s limit mags to 3 rounds”. And so the next shooter brings 10 mags with 3 rounds a piece. So then the govt says, “we’ll America, you’ve shown you can’t be trusted with magazines so now you may only own single shot firearms”
3. The 2nd amendment states, “Shall NOT be infringed”. Anything not mentioned is included by implication, and our Founding Fathers did this, to acount for technological adcances. For instance, if the law reads ”
So you see, it’s a slippery slope. And when have liberals ever just done something and then stopped? They’re called progressives because they keep pushing, and every year we’re pushed in increments towards communism.
Molon Labe!!!
The way I see it is that the 2nd amendment says are rights shall not be infringed. Now to infringe on something defined: to encroach, then the definition of encroach
1. to advance beyond proper, established, or usual limits; make gradual inroads: A dictatorship of the majority is encroaching on the rights of the individual.
2. to trespass upon the property, domain, or rights of another, especially stealthily or by gradual advances
It was those gradual advances that got Hitler where he was. We are no better. In fact if you look at my blog I have posted a picture of Hitler surrounded by children from when he introduced his gun ban in the name of “Childrens safety” and Obama doing the exact same thing.
I see it this way: I am not a criminal, I have never even had a speeding ticket or any other traffic violation other than not wearing a seat belt one time when it was first made into a law years ago. I have a concealed carry permit and if I choose to carry a glock with 17 rounds that should be my right!!! If we are disarmed then the criminals and the government will still have them and we will not be able to efficiently defend ourselves neither from a bad guy looking to blunder or a tyrannical government.
DON’T TREAD ON ME!!!!!! or my rights!!!
My first reaction to the title of the article was that “They” have been successful indoctrinating our children over the past few generations via government education and social welfare just to mention only a few things. The family was broken up and it gave the communist/socialists an opportunity to brainwash our children. The Constitution became evil, arms became evil, cutting down trees became evil, Success became Evil…the list goes on and on. It may be in Isaiah, I forget, but “Good becomes Evil and Evil becomes Good”. I still believe that our Great Republic will survive this, that the overall greater good of our people will endure. But it is becoming more and more difficult as everyone on this website knows. My plea to those with small children, “Do not let the school system, the media, the Government brainwash your kids. Reinforce what is right and eliminate from their precious minds the vile crap that is put into their heads daily. Molon Labe!
Amen brother

PS this CAPTCHA thing sucks. I always put in the correct answer and it takes like 5 times to post.
@Ididntbuildthat, Thanks for that heads-up regarding the CAPTCHA required for a comment, which was just installed a few days ago. I will check it out to see if there is a problem.
Update: I’ve tried it a zillion times, and it works okay on this end. I’ve made it simpler and removed the subtraction, in the event that it was buggy. If others have a problem, please let me know.
The captcha has worked fine for me every time. I am using IE it could be that it does not work right in some browsers.
