If there is truth to global warming then you will see much more of this reaction to the higher temperatures by the planet attempting to achieve an equilbrium by colloing areas, much the way hurricanes are nature’s giant air conditioners. Also you will see much heavily snow because the closer you get to freezing the more water vapor that can be held in the clouds. The colder the temperatures the drier and more powder like snow is. The warmer it is the more heavy and wet the snow will be. The perfect temperatures for heavy wet snow is between 20 and 30 degrees F.
Spain could be next and this would be a big blow to Europe because up until now the countries is big trouble; Greece, Portugal, Ireland have been smaller populated countries. If Europe comes apart I wonder what affect this will have on NATO. With NATO trying to box Russia in and I bet the Russians are hoping that Spain falls and then several others after. I bet there are secret Russian plans to help push some of these countries over the edge, like something to do with fuel supplies, especially around the winter time when Europe is very dependent on heating supplies from Russian’s vast natural gas fields and their oil.
Just keep looking at the price of gold, food is not going to go down in price with gold raising in price, plus the shortages. I agree, get some food now, it will save you money later.
Forget about global warming or climate change b.s. – the real problems the world faces are economic. There are activists posing as scientists out there trying to tell the worlds population man is shaping nature. It only takes an earthquake and tsunami or two to show humans who really is boss.
Part of the problem with Spain’s economy is investing heavily in green power lunacies. i.e. Trying to subsidize uneconomic windmills and solar arrays.
Uncontrolled debt will take down the western economies and any alleged anthropogenic climate change will be irrelevant.
The last topic concerning the 50 events which will take down an economic superpower are relevant. – Just shows how the worlds population is living on such a delicate precipice.
I am in New Zealand. The current snow storm, while unusually cold and reaching further north than normal, is not really exceptional.
An unusual combination of 2 low and one high pressure systems meant a large volume of very cold air was pulled up from the Antarctic, dumping snow on most of New Zealand. We are in the middle of winter, and snow in the South Island is not unusual. I live in the North Island, and, while we have had more snow than we usually receive, are not really suffering anything spectacular. Yes, we have had road closures and power outages, but NZ’ers are quite used to those. The South Island was hit with a similar polar blast a few years ago, but as it was unexpected, killed many thousands of newborn lambs. This time we knew it was coming, and prepared accordingly.
Personally, I live on the side of a mountain which has a ski field on it, and the skiers were despairing at the mild winter we had, until we had a decent dump of snow a couple of weeks ago. This dump is about the same amount, and the same as a big snow storm a couple of years ago.
Sorry, when we have 3 “once in a lifetime” events in 2 years, it fails to get me excited about Global warming.
Sounds like the linked news report may have been sensationalizing then. Glad to hear all is well in NZ
Here is a “Forbes”? origin article, on topic. If I read it right it debunks global warming due to us and our way of life. Naturally , we already know it’s just an “Al Whore” ( Ooops )- gore load ,just as “He” invented the internet… And don’t forget where your “Carbo Taxes are going…” http://www.forbes.com/sites/jamestaylor/2011/11/23/climategate-2-0-new-e-mails-rock-the-global-warming-debate/ Survive-All… On and on and on… with this one…
@ Otter. For every action there is an opposite equal reaction. People are pouring enormous amounts of carbons into the atmosphere, but at a set certain pace. The planet is definitely going to react to increased CO2, just as the planet Venus is shround in an atmosphere that is close to 100 miles thick. It is whether the planet takes in this increased CO2 and then recalibrates itself and adjusts is what is in question here. Does the planet have a type of self defense mechanism that cools itself when the CO2 goes up too high?
Many people use global warming as a political gain like mr albert gore and don’t take the FULL science into this. Others will completely demise it without realizing that any physical mass added to something has consequences, this is just physics. It is how the planet reacts and how QUICKLY it acts is what has to be determined. The planet could just blow off some super hurricanes at some point or the ocean currents could change, allowing a cooling. The planet will react to the increased carbons, it is just how is what has to be determined.
People unfortunately fail to understand that these extreme cold waves could be the result of the planet trying to heal itself and cool itself like a person with a fever. It could just be the solar cycle that simply happens every once in awhile. Science has to stop with the blinders on and look at ALL the aspects of what is going on. I talking about both sides of the issue of global warming. If anything too much carbon in the air is certainly not good for the lungs and this is what should be the issue before the global warming jive, people’s, aniamls’, plantlife, etc. safe health. China and India are the countries that are poisoning the planet with unbelievably toxic pollution.
Nice to see you back Otter, hope your health is real good for the holiday season. Hope you and everyone else had a nice Thanksgiving.
@ “BEE”, I think we’re on the same page… I have been seeing more and more information as regards the levels of Co2 today as opposed the past via ice core, peat bog, and soil core samples that show the Earth had way higher Co2 then today’s levels… That’s for the Awakening, newbies not you “BEE”…. Peace, Thanks for the Hi Sign; have a great holiday. As ever… Survive-All… P.S. Ken @ You – Thanks for everything…
