Comet Elenin, also known as C/2010 X1, will be sweeping through our inner solar system this Fall. In fact, it’s already here, making its turn around the Sun, already within the orbit of Earth and just about to enter within the orbit of Venus as of this post date.
While rumors abound on the Internet regarding Comet Elenin, we thought we add another one, for fun, given a side interest in ‘astronomical space happenings’…
While manipulating the Jet-Propulsion-Laboratory database browser, I discovered that during September 29, 2011, there will be an interesting alignment of planets, a comet, and the sun.
(Update: more accurately, there will be a period of several days while in approximate alignment – Elenin between the Earth and the Sun, September 26, 27, 28…)
The alignment between Earth, Comet Elenin, the Sun, and Mercury will span a distance of 210 million miles, while Venus will also be ‘nearly’ in alignment. Elenin will be 33 million miles from us during this date, however Earth will pass close or through Elenin’s debris field later, during the first week of November, which may prove interesting.
What is significant about the alignment? Probably nothing apart from curiosity.
Or, just maybe… a significant earthquake or volcanic eruption, or…

The govt fears ELE and has been prepping for it for decades. However, werent all on Planet Earth supposed to be able to see the Second Son/Second Coming in the sky by Sept 1, or Sept 13 at the very latest? Where is it? Maybe the timing is 2012 afterall? How often does the Rev 12 constellation lineup appear? Is it once in 2000 yrs? Annually? Anyone know?

Well from an astronomer’s perspective, it means that we have the opportunity to observe more about the comet as it transits the sun… size, mass, density, shape, etc. Can’t say much other than that… astrology and future prediction by interpreting the night sky is all hokum bull shit.

Comets were viewed for centuries as a harbinger of doom. There can be something to this because anytime a foreign body enters the space around the planet it can disturb the delicate balance of what is orbitting around the sun. That comet slams into an asteroid and look out.
The astrology point of view goes a little beyond the mythical aspect of what really happens with any belief. If enough people belief something is going to happen they can bring about an event that is not too pleasant. Much the same as people that read the horoscopes each day they become a Capicorn, a Taurus, a Leo, a Scorpio, or whichever other sign. It might not have anything to do with someone born under that sign that they have those characteristics, it might be that they picked up those traits from believing what they read each day in the newspaper. Same thing with enough people believing that a comet will bring about terrible events. There are a lot of very desperate people right now looking for some sort of sign.

I looked at Elenin yesterday and today. Elenin doesn’t strike me as being dangerous and it surely does not seem to have a coma of 200 000 kms like the Nasa announced. What I saw were many asteroids though, what are your thoughts on that?
Asteroids are more worrisome than comets, in that they can pop out of nowhere – no ‘tail’ to see for advanced warning – unless you know its there. It is amazing how many new asteroids have been discovered during this past year alone. (Must be more amateur astronomers finding them)
Comets on the other hand are more fun to watch, from a safe distance.

what do comets go around at the other end of their journey?
Is there another star somewhere ? do they connect us to another solor system?
@ Keith. Comets they feel mostly come from what is called the Oort Cloud which is way beyond the orbits of Pluto and Neptune. There are two types of comets, the long term and short term. Almost all comets are from this solar system, though it has been thought that some rare comets actually have been from a nearby star. The nearest star is over 4 light years away, 24 trillion+ miles away, so any comet that has travelled that distance would be extremely old, hundreds of thousands of years old. This is just a theory though. Comets end their lives when they exhaust their materials and this is usually upon the last approach towards the sun and its warmth. Of course a comet can end its life impacting another object.
The Oort cloud supposedly exists. We haven’t seen it. The only sort of provable thing that does exist is the Kuiper Belt (even then science simply doesn’t know what to call it or how to identify it other then a debris field). That cloud “they” say lay beyond the belt may not be there at all. My 2 cents:\ I’m boring….lol.
I wonder whether in the other three alignments Elenin was above the plane of the orbits of the other planets, which I understand to be more or less on the same orbital plane as each other. Or, was it aligned through that plane too. More importantly, I wonder what will be it’s alignment relative to the orbital plane of the other planets on the 29th September, above or below?
The JPL database browser doesn’t allow me to zoom in as tight as I would like, but it appears that Comet Elenin is real close to the planetary orbital plane during that time frame, perhaps slightly above.
And was that the case with the other three alignments?
I had this dream Last Night and was drawn to this page. In the dream, a great explosion of two colliding comets/asteroids/meteors in bright red. Some red entered the atmosphere and fell to earth which scared me and others. Take it for what its worth but I had no prior knowledge or have I even thought that “Elenin” would collide with “2005 YU55″. I only discovered YU55 today right before reading these posts. Coincidence? Synchronicity? It is what it is.

Why are people so afraid? Really, and the Intense emotional instability … WOW!!! You know, on an interesting note, as the date 29, September is interesting. I noted and warned of an anomaly on 29, September 2008, when the us stock market crashed -777pts! Of course, I got the Typical God hating BS. However, as with a second probable incident on the Date, that Date, September 29, is the Celebrated Day of Honor for Gods Chief Angel of WAR, Michael. HE is stated to bring the Final in the Bible. Who knows? Hey, I’m just the messenger so all You god Haters, Take it up with Him!!
Mathematically, we have one improbable calculation of events here. Perhaps, only the wise will see it. Oh, and you can correlate the events to Revelation chapter 18. The 21st verse (7+7+7) states that the city shall disappear into the Sea? Now, if you’re even close on this comet … Interesting.

I don’t read the bible much … I only Dabble when I find a Pattern. Could it be … the 18th Chapter in Revelation is Very Specific to today’s Modern World, and I believe it reveals the future of NYC. Surely, this week’s earthquake should wake some people? I read an article, where the WALL STREET Traders “refused to evacuate the building during the quake,” and were shouting to keep trading? Refer to the eighteenth chapter and what God promises to do to WALL STREET. IT IS VERY SPECIFIC.

When I heard that there were shouts of “Keep trading!” at the NYSE during the august east-coast quake, I was reminded of a story about a casino fire in vegas in which many burned corpses were found at the slot-machies, as if people kept playing while being burned alive! I’m curious about this and I’d be mightily glad of a reasonable common sense explanation:
NASA (Never A Straight Answer) is dismissing Elenin as rather ‘wimpy’; as a small 1km diameter ball of ice that will miss the Earth by some 22-35 thousand km.
Elenin’s coma is currently described as being 200,000km wide (or more) even on ‘official’ sites such as Spaceobs – Leonid Elenins own pages…
Comparing this to Comet Hallet; a big blob of rock and ice some 15km x 8km x 8km, which is described as having a disproportionately large coma at 100,000km wide (sources as simple for eg. as Wikipedia)…
One has to ask – a 1km blob of ice with a 200,000+km coma – surely that is either very unfeasible or incredibly remarkable?
And also – given the occurrence of much larger ice bergs on the earths surface which float out into the sea and melt, despite the protection of the atmosphere… 1km ice ball subjected to the direct rays of the sun – what stops it from just melting?
Anybody any ideas?
NASA is hiding something. I don’t like how they hide their margins of error. All mathematical projections have them, especially complex ones. I don’t like how they hide the fact that the Russian “Tunguska Event” Was Most Probably a Comet. The fact that the Earth will cross the comets debris field also skips the minds of NASA scientists.
I would be worried about objects in tow or breaking off and slamming into earth as earth collides with the comets debris field.

some nice seismic activity on the sept 6 alignment. we have a huge media blackout. fox denied a quake ever happening in the sumatra area (the 6.6) and other stations report minor damage with no more than 3 injured (this came from today’s broadcasts)
alternative sources report dozens injured with major damage.
I am just stunned right now. Nasa is not saying a word about this so-called comet, and some of the amatuer community is saying this comet is some sort of alien space craft. What a bunch of crap. All I want to know is where this freakin so-called comet is. I have used google, and get absolutely no answers, does anyone out there really know. If you do, will you please let the rest of us know. If no one knows I will be supporting my hubby, and believing this was just joke, and this Elenin dude from Russia was smoking some good shiiiite.
There was a mild earthquake in New Delhi last night, September/7/2011, ironically after the bomb blast (outside the High Court). The earthquakes keep happening now simultaneously all over the world. Any explanations? Or is NASA going to say that it is all media hype!
So it seems the Diagram shows Elenin aligning with sun earth & mercury onn the 29th. that’s funny cause it actually suppose to be on the 26th. But this also makes sense to why Obama will be at the Denver Airport on the 27th of September 2011. on the same week as Elenin aligns with all 3 planets. This sounds like earthquake happening and perhaps it might be in America somewhere. Oh by the way we all know what’s at the Denver Airport.lol just take a look at Jessy Ventura’s TruTv show about 2012 & Denver Airport Underground bases and more. It all seems to link to why Obama will be there and with Elenin coming close.

This ‘wimpy’ ball of ice is approaching it’s closest moment to the sun, comparably close to the orbit of the planet Mercury…

…and despite rumours of it’s demise from NASA and Spaceobs (Leonid Elenin’s site) it still appears to be there.
Seems to be denying the laws of Physics too, anybody any ideas? There’s a whole lot of crazy speculation going on, a reasonable or realistic speculation would be appreciated…
Perhaps, as they say, the comet collided with an asteroid or solar flair? They claim its grown dimmer and the coma has diffused. Accordingly, they (NASA) claims this indicates a collision. Now, has anyone factored in course change; NO, they are intent to think it will dissolve. However, I think a Shotgun effect would be more likely, and what we face when earth crosses orbits could be potentially devastating.
1. A collision would “one” change direction of remnants. Therefore, all of their mathematical calculations are out the window.
2. A collision would create smaller, but potentially more hazardous particles in a shotgun formation.
3. If it was a Collision with an Asteroid, we could have MUCH Greater Problems. However, NASA seems in their own delusional world of constant positives.
Could the Particles be so small as to be insignificant, YES, but they may not? The difference between the Fools in NASA and reality is that REALITY FACTORS both Positive and Negative. One thing is certain; the trajectory of said object has changed dramatically. And, therefore, if Nasa scientists keep on their banter of positives, they are not scientists, but propagandists working for the political groups. NASA is not a Scientific Organization it is ruled by Politics. Therefore, they are a Governmental Science Group and should not be Trusted.
Katla (the second largest volcano in Iceland) is ready to erupt and could have global consequences. Could these Items be related as with earthquakes? Unknown. However, due to string theory and common knowledge of butterfly theories … and so on … it is a realistic theory and should be studied.
The idea of a collision would certainly explain why the comet seems delayed and will be three days later in crossing the ecliptic.
I agree that NASA are being less than forthcoming and not particularly honest. As you rightly say, there should be a factoring of both positive and negative information elements.
It seems worrying that the official line is merely: ‘Nothing to see here folks!’, particularly when there is a dearth of real data despite the unusual study effort. Also the data that has been officially released shows so many conflicts e.g. between NASA, Minor Planets, Spaceobs, and the more credible of the amateur astronomers.
Personally, I’m not ready to believe it’s aliens or some mythological/theological event, but still – all disinformation/lack of information – something isn’t quite right.
NASA claims the end of September/early October space shuttle debris will be falling to earth! How IRONIC! NASA is giving people a MILD red flag that something will happen during the time ELENIN aligns in late September. Read for yourself.

The hopi blue star is real, the Hopi Indians have been talking about it for hundreds of years. The powers at be don’t want wide spread panic, it’s not the size of it, it’s the cyanide gas tail that will shower down on earth that is the real concern! The size being not cleared to public is another sign of trouble, it was stated elenin has grown 4 times in size and some comets can grow 1000 times in size, so if this would happen then we would have 3 days of darkness and extreme weather and cold, there will be no threat of impact if the comet doesn’t release a magnetic discharge and turn into a sun itself and then send its solar charged energy down on earth, we would all burn up quickly with a sun being that close to earth. Then there is the red star that the Hopi talk about that will be the destroyer of all life and make room for new life on earth, the blue star is the messenger the red star is the destroyer, its not only the Hopi but other tribes and religions mention these. If you got 500K you can buy an underground bunker but I doubt it will do you any good, as the elite will soon find out, if people read about the revelations in the Bible, they would also see how a lot of what is going on in the world is happening now. You can’t escape it, we have messed up this planet and its fighting back with some divine intervention, so they think having a bunker will help with great mass floods that will cover all the mountains, let alone the land, everything could be under water for many years, not 2-5 or wtf ever they think, we are all going to be swimming with the fishes.

Someone will always hide the truth, and than in the end, riots happen. don’t believe google.com nor other sites that show elenin in it, it’s already here, we just can’t see it at this point because of it’s equator and the blocking of the sun. Nibiru in the other hand will shortly be seen by 2012 of summer. so big that it will be bigger than how we see the moon. get your self some real information, not on the internet. government cover up will end soon, we just need to be aware of what’s really going on, and how Obama is up to something and how he’s going to be at the denver airport the same week elenin aligns with mercury the sun and earth. we all know what’s at the denver airport. i could say so much more for November 11-2011 we also know the mysterious code on that month and what will occur.
Just to throw in a little food for thought: I’ve recently seen a picture of Elenin taken with a red filter – it looks huge. Without the red filter it looks like it would fit the description ‘wimpy little ball of ice’.
I’d rather not start believing this is anything more than a regular comet + a lot of crazy internet hype.

Until Nasa can keep track of its space junk, they, nor the organization they represent (the us government) should be allowed to comment “on anything” without cross-examination by several independent, professional scientific firms.
They can Stick their Projections up their …. Because they can’t even project trajectories on their DB satellites. Brilliant, we have an inbound Nasa Satellite, but no Idea of Where it will Land. I could not get away with that kind of BS pounding nails in the construction industry, why can NASA? The weight of a Nail compared to a few tons of satellite moving at 30,000 mph!!!

Apparently Elenin will be slightly above the alignment plane in the 3D world, however it is difficult to see that in this image.

Well, it was mostly an interesting phenomenon and observation. The bullet to dodge out there these days is the collapsing economy!
Not yet, from what I’ve heard we will go into the debris-field of the comet around mid October-November. Any debris could change trajectory (collisions) in said time. Who knows? NASA sure won’t tell you anything. With all the Unknown Space Objects out there, anything is possible. Only Fools live on Optimism. I sold out of the Markets pre-crash, because I understand negatives. So much for the 401k ballonaticks! 401k is a Scam just for your own protection. Optimists are swindled more then pessimists.
