10 Year Anniversary Terrorist Attack on US Infrastructure?

We (in the US) are now suddenly hearing new warnings from ‘Big Sis’ Janet Napolitano and the Department of Homeland Security that “violent extremists have, in fact, obtained insider positions,” and that “outsiders have attempted to solicit utility-sector employees” for damaging physical and cyber attacks.

From ABC News, ‘The Blotter’, “Sabotage by an insider at a major utility facility…could provide al Qaeda with its best opportunity for the kind of massive Sept. 11 anniversary attack Osama bin Laden was planning”

A Department of Homeland Security former chief of staff told ABC News “The only way you can actually kill the large scale number of Americans that [bin Laden] literally was calculating was through the use of this critical infrastructure”

In the materials recovered after the Navy SEAL operation that killed Osama bin Laden in May, officials found evidence bin Laden sought to repeat the carnage of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks on or around its ten year anniversary.

A DHS intelligence report warns “violent extremists have, in fact, obtained insider positions,” and that “outsiders have attempted to solicit utility-sector employees” for damaging physical and cyber attacks.

There is little doubt of the potential deadly effects of a coordinated infrastructure utilities attack. This infrastructure is at the heart of our modern way of life, the lifeblood of the overall bigger machine. City centers consisting of millions of people are vulnerable to the assumption of a constant supply of safe drinking water, and electrical power which keeps the water pumps on, sewage treatment plants running, your refrigerator cold, your ovens powered, the gasoline pumps pumping, your lights on, on and on…

Just as threatening, or worse, the thought of coordinated sabotage at nuclear power plant facilities – although one would like to think that this would be much more difficult to achieve (except, remember the Stuxnet Cyber Attack??).

So, why is DHS all over the main stream media about this? Hasn’t this threat existed all along? Of course it has. Either they truly believe there is a credible threat with the 10-year anniversary of 9/11 rapidly approaching, or, they are trying to distract us from the current economic woes (although that would be conspiracy thinking…)

Got your camp stove ready??
