Having read a related article on ModernSurvivalBlog.com, the MSNBC TODAY show contacted MSB for contributing information regarding the Connecticut roof collapse events from the excessive snowfall so far, of Winter 2011, for a segment on the show.
This video is that segment followed by several still photos of some of the roof collapse events in CT, which can also be seen at the original post, Roof Collapse Chaos in Connecticut.
(I must say, it was rewarding to see a ModernSurvivalBlog.com credit on national tv at 1:27 into the footage)
Images are being updated as new events are discovered and photographed.
Be prepared. Clear your roof (safely).
It seems that a number of roofs were not engineered to carry the excessive weight of many thousands of pounds of accumulated heavy snow. Obviously the flat roofs are the most vulnerable.

Congratulations on getting national TV recognition on the Today show! The Roof Collapse Chaos in Connecticut was a great article and credit is well deserved!
@Apartment Prepper, thx. Much of our family lives in CT and MA. That, coupled with one of my interests, weather/meteorology, has me watching the events this winter – which are a bit more extreme in that part of the country than winters of recent past. In fact, I believe where you are located there in TX, I heard many of you were undergoing rolling blackouts due to the high demand for electricity due to the very cold weather…
Congratulations on a job well done. Not only is TX experiencing rolling blackouts my city now has mandatory water restrictions – no showers, no washing clothes and dishes.
Hey, brill, all your hard work and sound advice being seen by loads of people! Congratulations, you deserve it. I have learned so much from your site as has many others, and it has made a big difference to so many of us. ‘Live long and prepared!’
