20 Tips For Your Ride Through Life

You only have one ride through life, so make the most of it and enjoy the ride.

When you wake up in the morning, say “My purpose is to __________ today.”

Take a 10-30 minute walk every day.

Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.

Don’t live your life based on things that you think you ‘have to have’ because others have it.

Clear clutter from your house, your car, your desk – and let new energy into your life. It works!

Don’t waste your precious energy on gossip, ‘energy vampires’, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.

The school of life. Consider that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away, but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.

Smile and laugh more. It will keep the energy vampires away.

Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good. You make it what it is.

You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

Make peace with your past so it won’t spoil the present.

Don’t compare your life to others’. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.

The mind is everything. What you think you become.

Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.

I am not a product of my circumstances. I am a product of my decisions. Do the right thing!

Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it.

You can never cross the ocean until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.

Each night before you go to bed, say “I am thankful for __________”.

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.

  1. Very good rules to go by. How hard it is today with so much negativity in the world. In the not-so-distant future humans will understand the negativity of their vibes/thoughts and the real energies it has on the stability of the Earth’s interior and atmosphere. Right now, we just don’t care to know or consider the implications of our negative energies. Climate change or human energies?

  2. The 2 dates on your tombstone don’t matter
    It’s the dash that’s important

  3. Don’t let emotions dictate your responses….today’s insurmountable problem..given time…becomes no more than a memory…good or bad memory depends on how you handle it…

  4. I was given an assignment several years ago, make a gratitude list and add one thing each day with no repeats. It was easy at first I have 2 legs, 10 fingers, family, home and so on. After a month it got much harder. I had to be watching for something new each day. I discovered that I find what I look for. If I look for something to complain about I can always find it, but if I look for something to be grateful for I find it. Some days are more difficult than others but I can always find gratitude if I look for it. Gratitude for this weekend was having the grand kids and DW’s A1C is 5.3. Life is good.

  5. That quote st the end from John Lennon, oh so wise,,,

    1. Papa Smurf:
My Dad would say almost the same thing.
“To err is only human. To really screw things up, add a politician”
      What can I say LOLOL

  7. God give me the serenity to accept the things that I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.

    Well said!!!
During the Carter era, you turn on the evening news and in an upper corner of the screen was “Day 251 of the Iranian Hostage Crisis” Next day “Day 252” so on and so on.
During this, I was in Northern New Hampshire for a sled dog race. Even though I was extremely busy, going around the clock. I found it all surprisingly ‘restful.’ Thing is I was listening to French speaking radio stations on the truck radio. I’d listen to music and when the news came on… well. ‘No doom and gloom.’
Likewise, I rarely listen to talk radio. I don’t need to hear about bittens latest gaff, etc. and all those things that are stressful, but you cannot do anything about.
As inflation grows and the need to tighten the belt more and more. I’m getting close to turning off the mobile hotspot.
As you said, “if you haven’t figured it out by now.”

    1. Having said all that. I still haven’t turned off the internet. Without it I couldn’t come to MSB. Nor could I listen to Buddy Brown on utube.
THe thing is, Buddy has the platform to speak for the rest of us. Yesterday The Canadian Truckers asked Buddy to relay a message on his channel. Today Buddy again spoke in support of the truckers.
Buddy speaks for us, as Hank Williams Jr. did in the past — “A Country Boy Can Survive,” The Coalition to ban coalitions,” “Attitude Adjustment.” to name a few.
Then there is Aaronn Tippen’s “If You Don’t Stand For Something, You’ll Fall for anything.”
Okay I’ll get off the soap box.

  9. A saying that has come in handy more than once, during ‘this ride thru life’ when we’re far from the nearest store is;

“Make due with what you got, and you won’t need what you do not have.”

  10. Buddy Brown lives about 50 miles north of me, i have met him several times and he is a good man, great family and kids.

We need more people like Buddy.
On or about Jan. 1st 2022, he talked about “How 2020 Changed Hunting.” Mentioning that essentially because of covid lockdowns, folks losing their jobs, etc. That more and more people became hunters — to feed themselves. Suppose this would also mean more firearm owners.

    That post quickly disappeared!!!

Next time you see Buddy, could you give him a thumbs up from my wife and me?

    1. Far North,
i don’t know if people were trying to feed themselves or they just had more time on their hands to go hunting due to lay off’s.
if you can’t work what else ya gonna do. sit at the house all day and listen the old lady talking about the honeydo’s?
me and the dogs are gonna hit the woods and get some peace and quiet : )
when the hunting seasons close there is always fishing, won’t be long now.

      1. Scout
That’s true too, getting out of the house.
And utube made the video disappear!
Do you have trail hounds, bird dogs?
I grew up with beagles. Cottontails and snowshoe hare. Up here we have two beagles as house pets. Too many dangers, for the dogs, to run snowshoes here.

  12. Far North,
i have had many dogs over the years, red bones, walkers and beagles, labs, but i just have chow hounds now, yard dogs, and they’re my babies.
a mountain cur, a border collie and a mixed breed, half dalmatian and bulldog -but you should see them hunt, they’re a team. the mixed breed and the collie will station themselves in front of a pine grove or briar patch and the cur will run through it to chase something out to them. i have never trained them to do it. dogs are smart! they are sweet dogs, they love everyone, but to watch them catch a large raccoon or something like that is brutal to watch. one on each end pulling and shaking their heads and one in the middle pulling it apart. and they eat it.
i have some good dogs. their my children.
