How To Lose Weight Fast With This One Tip

how-to-lose-weight-fast

Here is a single weight loss tip that will help you lose weight fast. It’s not a pill. It’s not a regiment of a particular weight loss diet. It doesn’t require that you spend an hour on exercise machines every day. It’s not a tip that will keep you hungry through the day.

How to lose all that weight? It’s a simple weight loss tip that will work, because it simply will…

The Best Way To Lose Weight

This is not complicated, and it absolutely works.

Most all of us have our vices. And we KNOW what they are. When it comes to weight loss, losing weight simply and mathematically is directly related to ‘calories in’ vs. ‘calories burned’.

For ‘most’ of you who are overweight, there will likely be that one thing, that one ‘vice’ food that YOU KNOW is packing on the calories. There is probably more than one. However most of you know your weakness… Right? You know I’m right…

Well here’s the tip:

STOP EATING THAT THING. PERIOD.

I am inspired to post this simple weight loss tip because someone I know has lost A LOT of weight by simply having stopped consuming that ‘vice’ food that he knew was causing the worst of the weight problem. For him, it was soda. He apparently drank a lot of soda every day, and soda is loaded with an incredible amount of sugar (calories). Additionally, he liked his ice cream. He stopped that too. And guess what? We saw him last weekend at a bbq and he has lost a lot of weight. I asked him how he did it, and he said simply by stopping what he knew was the worst ‘vice’ foods. Simple.

Folks, it’s that easy. Get over your vice and the pounds will slide off.

There are all sorts of yummy foods that you know are ‘bad’ for you. It’s not that you have to stop eating all of them (although the weight will come off faster). It’s simply finding the WORST culprit food that you over-indulge in. That’s where lots (or most) of the ‘calories in’ are coming from, and if you stop eating it, you will see weight loss. If you have several vices, well, stop it.

How To Stop Eating Your ‘Vice’ Food

1. The absolute #1 way to overcome your craving for your ‘vice’ food, is will power. If you do not want to lose weight, then stop reading here and go back to your tub of ice cream. But if you really want to lose weight, then you already have MOTIVATION. You need to want to do it. Really want to.

2. When you get the craving, not only use your will power, but if you must eat, then replace the ‘vice’ food with something that you KNOW has far fewer calories. Whatever works for you… Maybe it’s simply a glass of water (it works). Really. It works.

3. You will get crabby at first, because you’re not feeding your craving for ‘the thing’. But after awhile, you will adjust. So just recognize that this will happen (see #2 above, which helps).

4. Visualize yourself having lost weight. It will happen. It will.

5. Rid your house of the ‘vice food’. Don’t buy any more. Don’t tempt yourself.

Why is this weight loss tip ‘fast’?
The weight will come off fast (relatively) because when you stop eating the food that has the most calories, it will have a faster effect on the mathematics of ‘calories in’.

CONCLUSION
There are a zillion ways to lose weight. But it ALWAYS boils down to calories-in versus calories-burned. Your body burns ‘x’ amount of calories each day. If you are consuming more than you burn, then you WILL gain weight. Period. If you consume less, you WILL lose weight. Period. So, find that ‘bad’ food that you eat too much of (you KNOW what it is), and stop it. This will help tremendously. If there are several ‘bad’ foods, well, stop them!

What are your food vices?

I suppose that my worst one is peanut butter (tons of calories in it).
-but it tastes so darn good ;)

For you, maybe it’s…
-ice cream
-snack ‘junk food’
-‘fast’ food
-too much alcohol (tons of calories in alcohol)
???

  1. all good.

    Good post, and sensible.

When I read the Headline, thought the advice was going to be

    “Put down the fork”…(grin).

    1. At some point, us ‘murikans MAY admit so many of us are fat because we eat so much. We may even admit that diabetes is largely a symptom of obesity. Diabetes exploded as we all got so fat.

  2. Then there are those who suffer from medical conditions requiring medications that cause weight gain…catch 22.

    1. Or those that are 5’1″, 65, inactive, and past menopause stage(which most charts don’t take into account), and can’t possibly live on 1000 calories daily to lose wieght.
Try it if you think you can do it.

  3. You read my mind. It’s the will power that’s hard. I should put this on fridge as incentive to get rid of the winter weight.

  4. We don’t ‘work out’, we work. Physical work is much more interesting and PRODUCTIVE than tread-mill gym-style routines. Physical work will definitely give a person muscle mass which is able to burn calories more efficiency. And physical work, when done correctly, will use more muscle groups and keep a person’s body more fit than stationary bicycling or treadmilling. Physical work can be a calorie-burning job through a skill like carpentry, gardening, splitting wood, etc.

Then there is physical exercise. That’s the really fun stuff! Exercise can be found through hiking, bicycling, paddling, playing any of the ball sports (tennis, football, basketball, etc), or in my case, riding a horse or paddling.

My trick with the sugary junk is to blow it all off by asking myself if eating that doughnut is worth the 500 calories or the big glass of soda is worth 300 calories. These things are pure junk: sugar, fats, and preservatives. (Need anything more be said??)

(Sorry for the absence — had to fire TMobile for being so unreliable and get reconnected elsewhere. Missed out on some great articles here!)

    1. Never understood the attraction of bicycles that don’t go anywhere.

  5. Alcohol “Suds” really gives you the gut… I blame the wheat in it.
Soda – of any kind adds the weight too… I blame sugar and carbonation.
Breads, Pastas, and anything with wheat — Do you eat pizza and go “Oh man, I could lay down and take a nap” — Try to NOT eat wheat for one or two weeks. – If you drop in weight and feel better – you may have a gluten intolerance problem. – That said look into GFree foods for a few months, and then try eating wheat again — slowly.

I know lots of people that can’t tolerate wheat anymore. I’m sure its the GMO’s. When I was a kid – I never cared for breads, pizzas, pastas, and wheat cereals. I stay away from wheat products as much as I can. Yes, I still eat it, but, very little. I feel better and I have never really had a weight problem. I’m just under 6 foot tall and my waste line has always been approx 32″ around. Not bad for being almost 50 years old. Haha…

There are few alcoholic drinks that are wheat free. If you must crack open a can or bottle of suds – try the Ultra one. It has the least amount of wheat.

If I had ten acres of land free for planting anything I wanted, I would try Heirloom wheat and make my own bread to see if that is truly the problem.
I just don’t have the space.

Going Gluten free is tough – but do able if you feel better, and shed pounds, why would you keep eating it?

One of the most common questions I get is “But I love potatoes”
You can have all the taters you want … taters is a veggie not a grain.

Some people can tolerate barley, and rye. I can eat those as well.
Rice can become a staple too. I don’t see too many overweight Asian people, unless they are into sumo wrestling.

    Being active helps too.

Thank you Ken for a quick article.
Eat your veggies everyone – after all … we all should have *Something growing* even if its sitting in your window.

Zone 5 for me. My tomato plants are 4 foot tall this year. I made 3 nice sized raised beds. I should have done this years ago.
    ~Youngest.

    1. I totally agree with your post. Going wheat free in the mid 90’s got rid of colon problems, gave me more energy, and got rid of the mid afternoon doldrums.

I can also testify that 2′ raised beds are the way to go – less weeding, less work, less watering, and I have built poly greenhouses that can roll up for each 4X8′ bed.

    2. Augason Farms has wheat that is non GMO. 50 lb bags are reasonable, 100 lbs=approx 7 gallons, 4 bags will be about 14 gallons. Freeze it before putting in buckets, esp if in climate that does not have deep freeze option.

    3. My Dad has had problems with severe bloating for a long time. We didn’t cut out wheat entirely, but cut it down. That means, if we have toast in the morning we don’t have pasta for lunch or pizza for dinner.

My own personal opinion is that GMO’s are part of it, but the larger part is that the human body is not designed to handle gluten on these levels. In the 1960’s they started breeding wheat with other (wild) grains so it is smaller, easier to plant and harvest, more grain per stalk, etc. An unexpected side effect was a huge increase in gluten content. Nearly every grain grown commercially today is descended from these crosses.

The human body is designed to work on a hunter-gatherer diet. Roots, grains, berries, meat. But NOT gluten on this level! Our wheat has many times the gluten of any wild grain, then we add gluten-based dough enhancers and add gluten to aid rising…and we overdose.

Since we cut down on wheat he hasn’t bloated on that same level. We cut out nuts a few weeks before and the difference is amazing!

      1. Lauren
Only one wheat grain that I am aware of, and I would not have known about it, if I had not researched it before purchasing the grain/flour.
It can be found on the internet, but it is NOT inexpensive. The bag I found was Bob’s Red Mill in a restaurant supply house(Cash & Carry).

  6. Getting your body prepared for doing without luxury foods, and prepared for hard work is the best preparation for a good life, as well as a post-SHTF life.

  7. Weight loss is easy. Just make sure more is coming out the bottom than is going into the top.

  8. Just look at a pic of Hitlery. If that doesn’t make you lose your appetite then I don’t know what will.

Be careful. Viewing her pic could result in excessive vomiting and extreme rage. May want to look into getting a punching bag or spend time getting of lead therapy to reverse the side effects.

But seriously. Very good advice in the article and from the comments.

The water is starting to boil folks another few months and it will be a rolling boil and too late to prepare.

    Adapt and Overcome.

    1. 11HE9

not so sure looking at that pic wouldn’t have had the opposite effect?

Apparently one assumes she looks at herself in the mirror many times a day, and she has, shall we say…..”filled out” quite a LOT.

      1. Yes Hitlery has filled out a bit (HA!), but she is surrounded by slaves at her beck and call. So she can just sit on her rump and do nothing. Bound to catch up to anyone. Plus the evil is growing stronger inside her, gluttony is needed to feed the beast.

Her pic may make some depressed and eat more, others the opposite. I only feel anger and rage when I see her. Don’t get me started on the evil shrill of a voice she has.

Ken sorry to go to far off topic. I will stop and be a good boy.

        Adapt and Overcome.

        1. …you’re still on-topic…as the image of ‘Hitlery’ and what she stands for does have relevance with appetite (the lack thereof) ;)

        2. Ken

there you go…you are so right, we all are “on topic”…grin.

    2. And when the water is completely boiled away and the fire is still lite, we’ll start using ammo!!!

      1. I think there will still be water in the pot when that time comes. But it is coming. It doesn’t matter who gets elected in Nov.

        Adapt and Overcome.

  9. My surprising secret of success was to use a list of “the glycemic load of the 100 most common foods” (easily found on the web). The only change in my eating habits was to either avoid or minimize the bottom 15 foods on the list which was rather easy to do. If I did eat them, I made sure to eat them with enough healthy fat to keep them from spiking my carb craving. After six weeks, the carb craving is considerably diminished AND my muffin top is nearly gone :-)

Glycemic load info compares serving sizes and is much less complicated than having to calculate a glycemic index for everything you eat. I only had to make some minor adjustments to my regular diet and grocery shopping. No special foods, no scales and very little if any feeling of deprivation.

Worth a try anyway. The research on glycemic load information is fairly new, but there are a couple of books out there that explain it more fully. Look for “glycemic load diet” if you are interested.

  10. If we accept the warnings of not if, but when the power grid goes down, many of the conveniences we have will be altered and priorities changed.

One thing for certain, physical tasks, doing things manually, will be multiplied!! Being in good physical shape before this happens will be an advantage to you and your family that will be depending on you more than ever. Investing now in your food prepping of the right foods to maintain muscle mass is vital because everyone will be burning more calories.

It will also be vital to not over exert your body this will be much easier with less sore muscles if you improve your physical condition now.

    The clock is ticking!!

  11. By the way, you may be surprised to know how much sugar is in an ordinary 12oz can of soda.

I’m sitting here (lunch time) looking at Mrs.J drinking a can of Sunkist orange soda, and it has 43 grams of sugar! That’s like eating 10 spoons of sugar! Plus several hundred calories.

She was on the treadmill this morning and I asked her how many calories the meter said she burned… she said a little more than 200. I told her about the can of soda she’s drinking just totally negated that workout. Now she’s not too happy with me ;) Hopefully she doesn’t read this…

    1. Ken

      You can’t win for anything..grin

I am not positive, but a couple of former heavy Milk drinkers, told me a glass of milk equal to a can of soda, has as much or more sugar in it. Go figure.

      1. @ Anon

Come-On-Man, Ken has been married for a long time, if he has not learned by now……

Now how’s that for throwing Ken under the bus… HAHAHA

        Love ya dude.
        NRP

      2. It’s because milk has a lot of carbs and carbs turn into sugar in our body. I don’t think that it is coincidence that the high carb diet promoted by .gov has resulted in lots of health issues.
I have yet to meet a carb that I didn’t like- I do try to pick ones that offer some decent nutrition.

  12. The ultimate way for anyone to lose weight, regardless of “will power” or “desire” is to remove all one’s sense of TASTE. When I had cancer, the radiation killed off all the taste buds on my tongue. So, eating anything became quite a horrid task, something you wanted to get over quickly..or avoid. I would drink instant breakfast just to keep from getting dizzy..which is the only reason that motivated the task. I lost about 60 pounds in about a month. I was SO HAPPY! But, the Doctor’s were alarmed. I lost all desire for food of any kind, stopped drinking all spirits and wine.

I don’t care who you are, or what mental issues you have…if you cannot taste your food..you will not eat it.

If someone could invent a way to temporarily shut down one’s sense of taste, even the most abusing eater will simply stop eating, until their taste is again turned back on.

I wonder if it could be done chemically, or if one would need to expose the tongue to radiation, like my experience.

Oh, and when your taste returns..the SWEET taste buds return FIRST. So, the finest wine, and your single malt scotch, all taste like Cough Syrup for a month or so.

    1. @Ision

There is such a ‘thing’. Saw it in some show months back. Don’t remember if it was a pill or powder but it shut off the taste buds for 20-30 minutes.

    2. Or texture. Paying attention to the texture of your food is a surefire way to eat less. :)

    1. *falls over laughing* This. This right here just won the internetz.

  13. Well, Fat Boy here, not too much but could use to lose a few, or more.

My understanding to lose weight, stop eating anything your Grandmother could not pronounce. Including ALL processed “white” stuff (Flour, Sugars, Boxed Foods, Prepared Crapo, on and on) So basically 95% of the Grocery Store gunk. When I read a label, there is NO way to really know what all that shi^ is, and we dump into our bodies on a daily basis. Nice huh? No wonder we’re (as a nation) are FAT and unhealthy.

Secondly, a long story short, a very funny 5 min Radio gig was about a surefire way to lose weight… “Eat less, Move more” was the punch line after a bout on the cost of the weight loss program that came with a $1000 guarantee….. Would probably work I guess.

I will not disagree with Ken’s suggestion at all. But think about it, if you stop your “vice food/s”, you are changing your eating habits, when that happens you will lose weight. Hard part, keeping it off when you “cheat”.

What is amazing is we ALL know how to lose weight and how to stay/get into “shape” but do we do it???

    NRP

PS; don’t go picking on my Gin LOLOL

  14. Famine resistant! Now that’s hilarious!

A great article Ken. I remember a Sci Fi movie about time travel where the future guy meets himself from the past. First thing he says is lay off the Snickers Bars! Lol!
For most it is the refined sugar that’s doing them in. Sugar is in everything. Those Ensure drinks I see people buying are like soda. Over an ounce of sugar in each can and they are drinking 2 or 3 a day! That’s like eating a 5 pound bag of sugar a month. No wonder they can’t lose weight. Sound advice indeed in this article…

  15. Tape a 5×7 photo of yourself naked on the refrigerator door, you wont even touch the handle before you turn away!

    1. @ Bluecatmatt

      OUCH!!!!!!Now THAT’S just dang right cold…..

      NRP

PS; not sure the gut would fit on a 5X7 LOLOL

      1. There is always landscape mode lol

Starvation will get us all in shape eventually.

  16. If anyone is interested, why not get a blender and blend vegetables. I’m talking leafy greens, stay away from the roots such as turnip roots and beets etc. I did that for three months, and have gone from 265 down to 211, as of this morning, and I haven’t been hungry either. Some people prefer juicers, but not me. The juicers take all the fiber out and there is just too much wasted product.

The side benefits are I’m down from pants, waist 42″ to fitting tightly into my 34s this morning. Five more pounds and the 34s will fit ok. My knees and back don’t ache anymore either. My yearly medical last week showed all the bad stuff in the blood was a lot less and the good stuff a lot more. Don’t ask me to explain, I don’t even have a clue what the doctor was trying to say. God bless and have a nutritious filled day. Oh, one other thing, my kidneys stopped hurting the first day. thanks

    1. Taxdn2poverty

Good to hear of your success.

So, is that all you ate, or is this in addition to some meals?

      Thanks.

    2. @ Taxdn2poverty

I have heard that really works, but a Question, what do you do for protein? Or did you cut those out completely? Are you supplementing with Vitamins or anything else? All meals or just one…..

I figure if your cantankerous old grumpy azz can do it, I should have no problem… HAHAHA

      NRP

    3. @ Taxdn2poverty

One last question if ya don’t mind??
How well does that mix with Gin?? :-) :-) :-)

      NRP

    4. @Taxd… that’s great. Getting into better shape is immensely important to one’s overall preparedness. In fact, I will speculate that even those who have prepped to the n’th degree will be in probable trouble if they are not in good shape come SHTF (long term).

Regarding vegetable juice, I am drinking at least one 12oz glass of V8 100% Vegetable Juice every day (with 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric) – which not only do I enjoy the taste, but it’s really good for you…

Related: How Do You Take Your Turmeric?

  17. I have found that this works for me. Do not eat after 7 PM. Liquids only in the evening, but low on sugar. Also, most days have a VERY light supper. Do this and the pounds will go. Within reason, you can have what you want of breakfast and lunch but most days go real easy on supper. It works.

    BI

    1. Good advice to not snack late, go to bed a little hungry. This will lower the digesting stomach acid ph and help prevent acid reflux, GERD, and even possibly a hiatal hernia and throat cancer!

…Please believe me, its all too true. See– fear can help you lose weight!
And if you are overweight and your back hurts, that’s probably the connection.
      (Again speaking from experience)

  18. It’s interesting to read these. I eat very little sugar, have no “food” vices that I’m aware of (cookies once in a while) but according to the asinine BMI I’m obese. I’ve been at basically the same weight since my early 20’s. I look 40 pounds lighter than I am and I love playing with the weight guessers at the fair. The problem isn’t what I eat–it’s simply the way I’m built. I tell people all the time–it’s not weight, it’s health. If your cholesterol is low, your blood pressure is fine and you can run (and work) without gasping for breath or hurting your joints, don’t worry about it.

At one point I got up to 210. My joints were complaining, I couldn’t walk easily, and I decided that was enough. I did two simple things–no fat between meals, and never eat butter and cheese at the same meal. Dropped 20 pounds in a few weeks, 40 in two months. Cheese was my “vice.” Pasta MUST be drowned in cheese and butter (unless it’s drowned in spaghetti sauce and cheese) and a perfect snack is cheese and crackers with butter.

I blame it on the Italian ancestors. But don’t let the BMI be your scripture. It’s WRONG. Go for health, not weight.

  19. I have a very slow metabolism so most diets don’t work for me. I have to eat 600 -800 calories a day to lose with a 20 minute workout every day but I quit losing at 140 lbs, so I have cut the food down to 500 calories and more and exercise more. Then I can’t eat more that 550 calories a day to maintain that weight with the workouts. I need vitamins because if I ate the recommended portions of this and that food, I’d gain weight. I did this about 10 years ago but I gained it all back eating what I am supposed to eat proportionally. I have a famine body that needs very little to eat. Guess that is good during a great depression.

  20. That’s good if it’s only one thing that is causing this.

But if it’s more than one food (typical) or more than one reason (eating what one loves, emotional eating, etc.) than that advice doesn’t work.

Add to that the fact that some meds will stop weight loss (not in my case) or one can’t do productive exercise due to various health reasons (my case – so all I can do are short walks which I do) and well, good luck.

I quit soda years and years ago. Initially lost 5. That was it.

The problem is, food is *everywhere* and especially if you’re out, it’s mostly high-calorie/bad/too much. It takes tremendous will-power to lose and triple that to maintain. It’s a rigged game.

Going to the grocery store for me is like going to a liquor store for an alcoholic. It’s that simple. I have to make sure that I go *after* a proper meal.

Definitely calories in must < calories out, but attaining that is not easy. In fact, for many, it's super difficult.

  21. No Sugar, No Grain diet (NSNG) has me eating better, and down almost 20 pounds in 3 months only changing my diet. It is so simple. Stay away from processed foods because they all have sugar. Meat and cheese over salads are my go to meal. And the sugar cravings drop off. Look up Vinnie Tortorich.

  22. Great Article Ken!

From my own experience, it really is about your own will power. I will admit that I use to be a big soda drinker (probably at least 1 or 2 a day). Then it came time to renew my drivers license, I was shocked about how big my face had gotten when I got my license in the mail.

Pretty much from then on, I hit the gym at least 4 to 5 times a week (minimum 1.5 hour workout). I cut down big time on any soda or sweet drinks (probably only 2-3 a month now) . After about 7 months, my face has slimmed down and my body has become more tone. I feel much more energetic and haven’t gotten sick in those 7 months while I have been working out.

Every time I feel tempted to drink soda or “vice” drinks, I just take a look at my drivers license picture, and I grab a water instead. I am stuck with that picture for at least 5 years, but it motivates me to push myself to exercise more and have more self control. What also helped is I stopped eating McDonald’s, I love their chicken nuggets and french fries, but I honestly feel like crap afterwards. I probably eat there only once a month now, if not longer.

I think anyone can get the body they want, but the thing is, YOU have to want it. I use to depend on people to keep me accountable, but it really comes down to yourself. You can’t depend on other people to make you go work out or cut down on whatever your vice might be.

I plan on doing the Spartan Sprint this coming December, I look forward to that challenge and I am sure it will give me the motivation to keep working harder on myself.

Don’t feel discouraged if you cave or fail. It happens to all of us, just don’t give up and keep on pushing!

  23. The fastest way to lose weight quickly is : Food poisoning.

Medications will affect the flavor of your foods. The first classification that comes to mind are cardiac meds called ACE inhibiters and calcium channel blockers that make things taste kind of bitter, metallic(nasty). I pointed this out to my father years ago when he was complaining about my mom’s cooking. Chemotherapy agents for cancers will alter the taste buds too.

(for every agent used to kill the cancer, the MD will typically prescribe 4-5 medications to counteract the side effects of the cancer medication.)

I still work as an RN so I constantly strive for the balanced approach to life: All things in moderation. If I am thirsty, the best drink in the world is clean, cool water. When people are disappointed that I gave them water when they are thirsty, I remind them that water was the Original diet beverage.

  24. Another sure way to lose weight is to just move to Venezuela for a few weeks!!!

  25. This is exactly what I needed to hear. Oh did someone say “famine resistant”. Now that’s some motivation right there. Thanks!!

  26. My husband snarkily says “you’ve never seen in overweight person in a concentration camp”. I kept a 5 lb bag of flour on the counter to encourage me to lose 5 lbs. You can’t believe how much 5 lbs actually weighs and then imagine it on your body. Then I bought a 10 lb bag. It really opens your eyes how much extra weight you are carrying around.

    1. @S.Lynn, That is a great deterrent and reminder! Hadn’t thought of that – keeping a 5 or 10 lbs of flour on the counter. It does make you think!

    2. @ S.Lynn & Ken

Another twist a friend told me about, if you have a backpack put the equivalent of weight you want to lose in the pack. Wear it all day for a full day (no cheating), than when you take it off, see how you feel….. Very surprising

      NRP

  27. LOL I thought for sure the “number one weight loss tip” would be “Don’t put back food in your pantry for a SHTF situation”…
