We don’t cookout on this day. It’s a day of remembrance for all those that we have lost. It’s not a day of celebration. Reply hobbyshop 05/25/2015 Thanks for posting this. All need a reminder now and then about the true meaning of this day Reply cossack55 05/25/2015 It is a perfect day to read (or re-read) War is a Racket by Major General Smedley Butler (Americas most decorated soldier/marine). Reply Old Hiker 05/25/2015 Let us all remember our service men and women who sacrificed all for our freedom.. Reply NRP 05/25/2015 Reminds me to replace my flag soon, I have to do it every year the winds here shred them.(I usually replace on Memorial Day but not today, thunderstorms are here bad….) I have one at about 60′ (lighted) so it’s a chore, but my honor to do so. And yes I know the proper way to dispose of a torn flag. FYI one little thing, I hope I never come across one of those that feel it’s ok to disrespect our flag, I see you walking on or burning one, you will NOT be walking again soon. Lets all remember those that fought and died to make this country great. God bless them and GOD BLESS AMERICA NRP Reply Randy 05/26/2015 “Dissent is the HIGHEST form of patriotism” Thomas Jefferson On Memorial Day we honor those that fought and died so americans have the freedom to protest by desecrating the flag. I would not do this myself, but I defend the right of others to do it. If we get upset about protesters desecrating the flag, the honored dead died in vain. We cannot on one hand honor those that died defending freedom, then with the other hand condemn those that express their freedom.
