Nearly every time throughout history, after the licensing of gun owners and registration of firearms have led to and resulted in confiscation.
The question is, could it happen in the United States of America?
Answer: Yes, if enough people like this one (below) vote for politicians of a similar persuasion and agenda.
After watching the short interview segment – don’t laugh, because this man is serious, and there are MANY like him. It is quite interesting to ‘see’ his psychology in that he BELIEVES that not only should we ban and confiscate all firearms, but kitchen knives (and all knives) too. Not only that, but he believes that we should ban nails – and obviously anything which he believes could harm another man.
His fatal flaw (in his thinking – in my opinion) is this…
While his motivations are for peace, love, and understanding, what he fails to realize is that among a human’s many traits and characteristics, one of them is EVIL. There IS evil in this world – it is sadly part of our human nature. It is fundamentally wrong to confiscate the tools of an individual which could be used to protect against and combat evil.
The assaults on our fundamental rights of liberty have been relentless – especially these last few years. With the ongoing attacks on our 2nd-Ammendment (and 4th-Ammendment) rights, it is looking more and more like we could lose, unless we fight back relentlessly.
What if confiscation became a reality here in the United States?
Look what’s happening in Connecticut… It’s not just CT, it’s happening on many fronts and in many states. While attempts to further restrict our 2nd-Ammendment rights flare up following any media-circus shooting, the fact is that the current political climate in Washington and in many state legislatures has been tipped in the favor of ‘progressive’ socialism.
Our normalcy bias may make it hard to imagine Americans being hauled away to prison for refusing to relinquish their rights under the Constitution, but we are getting closer each and every day.
Do you have one too many rounds in your firearm? It’s off to jail for you.
Do you have a particular model firearm that ‘looks’ scary? It’s off to jail for you.
Etc.. Ad Nauseam…
By refusing to comply with these newly enacted laws (e.g. CT) – albeit unconstitutional – you will have become felons overnight.
By ignoring what is happening throughout the country in this regard – even though it may not affect you directly – will eventually result in your own peril when an overreaching government rips away your liberty.
The United States is the only country in the world founded on individual liberty – that ‘we the people’ are more important than the state. We have drifted away from this principle during the past 50 years or so, and it is unclear whether or not we will ever get back. Presently, it looks doubtful.
There will come a point in time when the straw will break and when those who love liberty will have been pushed too far. The result will be the potentially violent clashing of two fundamental mindsets – socialism versus individual liberty, and it won’t be pretty. Let’s do our best to stop the coming civil war and resist further government overreach by taking action – saying something – doing something about it. Get involved. It’s YOUR freedoms at stake…
After invading, Nazis used pre-war lists of gun owners to confiscate firearms, and many gun owners simply disappeared. Following confiscation, the Nazis were free to wreak their evil on the disarmed populace. It happened right under the nose of German citizens. What makes us think IT CAN’T HAPPEN IN AMERICA?
This is fixable. Read “Unintended Consequences”.
England is on a list of countries where people visiting need to take special precautions because of the rampant violence. Plenty of crimes, assaults and murders mostly by knife but the criminals have guns too. So much for that fairy tale that taking guns away from honest citizens will make us safer.
For better or worse we need to recognize who commits homicides with guns. Roughly 78%-82 of them are committed by blacks, 15%- 17% by hispanics and about 4%-6% by whites. Most of these homicides are committed by career criminals who could not have passed a background check to obtain a gun legally. And yet the laws did not prevent them from getting guns.
P.S. It may not have been obvious why it is important to understand the racial makeup of those who commit murder so let me explain. As the man in the video said in Japan they have few gun homicides. well in Japan 99.99% of the population are ethnic Japanese. IF you gave Japan 13% people of African descent then they would have a massive increase in homicides. This is not mere speculation or latent racism it is a fact that in most every country with a large percentage of African Americans you have much higher rates of violence and homicides. So the point being that even if we adopted Japan’s repressive gun control it is unlikely we would reap their lower rates of gun violence. What we need to do is make a greater effort to identify criminals earlier and either institutionalize them or reform them.
You are spot on in your observation of race and crime. The darker the race the more crime with the blacks leading the crime spree by a large margin.
Australia banned private ownership of weapons after a massacre. It takes a lot of paperwork to obtain any type of weapon now. Handguns, automatic and semi automatic rifles and shotguns are banned.
Farmers are allowed certain weapons to shoot pests and predators.
Since the ban – I’ve never seen so many more weapons on public display by security and police personal.
This gentleman appears to be homeless , and most homeless people are former mental patients , that have been released by the government . As for confiscation of legally owned firearms that could be deemed illegal by the stroke of some political elite , yes it could happen will it happen , don’t know but if it is attempted the ones attempting it will be either way undermanned or will ask for foreign troops to help , as I am sure that by this time all Constitutional rights will have been suspended , and the government will be in supposedly total control. But if it is gone about by the propaganda way before suspending the Constitution , all gun owners not complying will be painted as enemies of the government that is trying so hard to help everyone especially the children , hopefully there aren’t that many dupes out there but so far it looks like there are . Again yes the government , which is steadily heading toward fascism with some Marxism thrown in , would love to lock down this country and take total control over everyone’s lives , no matter how many will die in the process , which I feel will happen once everyone finally wakes up and figures what is going on . Right now Boobama has signed Executive orders to stop Russian arms and ammo from being imported into our country , myself I feel that this problem with Russia is of the Boobama administrations own making , for more control over other countries . Be prepared and ready . Keep your powder dry.
Oh and Ken love your article , thanks for giving us a place to sound off ! BPAR. Kypd.
When he can guarantee us that every person can walk through a Chicago park at midnight and not get mugged, stabbed, shot…take your pick…then maybe we can talk. By the way, I stay away from men in fur coats carrying a purse.
That idiot should go and take another of his govt provided prescriptions and blaze another bowl. What a hippie douche.
His kind are pathetic as they ” hold hands and hum in harmony”!!!
In the book “Lucifers Hammer” there is a brief paragraph of handcuffed hippies blocking traffic. What happens is eye opening to them. To me I don’t waste my time with them as they will be the first to die in a TEOTWAWKI event.
Even worse, the hippies were religious zealots. At least they had the grace to come to a gun fight chained together.

That guy is a homeless man, a real eagles fan wouldn’t wear a coat like that, plus a real eagles fan is most likely carrying, we would of shot Santa instead of throwing snowballs at him. This man lives in a box by the subway looking for handouts or love park looking for his next homo lover. Any Philadelphian could tell you that:-)
I bet they round ’em all up come voting time and drive ’em to the nearest voting booth, trading votes for a nip bottles of whiskey. Hell, you don’t even need ID at some precints these days.
Voting here is exclusively by mail. Makes it easier for the party in charge to get the right result. Had a situation about nine years ago where the Democrat contender for Governor lost. They, the Democrats, kept counting the ballots until they got the desired result. The result was immediately blessed by the Democrat official in charge of such things. The Republicans went to court, got the court to agree. Only one problem… There is no way to unseat a Governor in this state without proving gross misconduct.
Aint Democracy grand?
Reminds me of how Al Franken won in Minnesota. Just keep stealing votes with each count a couple hundred at a time till you get enough.
This man with the leopard looking coat and yellow purse is a crazy person. Sad thing, so is a majority of the voters in the country…..”Bearded Spock”
you all were talking about guns, but the gov’t seems able to change laws to confiscate almost anything…
U.S. Supreme Court decision on government seizure of private property
Feb. 8, 2005: The home of Susette Kelo in the Fort Trumbull section of New London, Conn. The small house once at the center of a U.S. Supreme Court decision on government seizure of private property was later disassembled and relocated to a site close to downtown New London. Avner Gregory, of New London, the new owner, dedicated his house on June 21, 2008, before a crowd of about 200 participants and onlookers. (AP/Jack Sauer)
The controversial Supreme Court ruling that expanded eminent domain to give government the right to take private property to allow economic development may have been all for nothing, according to a report.
Nine years after the high court sided with a Connecticut municipality in Kelo v. City of New London, a ruling Associate Justice Antonin Scalia has likened to the court’s disastrous Dred Scott decision, the 90-acre plot
more…
Seven residents who fought all the way to the Supreme Court to keep their working-class homes in the city’s Fort Trumbull section have only their memories and whatever remains of the money they were forced to accept
In the landmark 5-4 ruling, named for the lead plaintiff, a nurse named Susette Kelo, the Supreme Court upheld a state Supreme Court ruling that the city of 27,000 and a nonprofit entity called the New London Development Corp. were entitled to seize those properties in the name of economic development. Previously, eminent domain had been seen as limited to cases involving projects deemed as benefiting the public, but not a private economic interest.
The nationwide outrage that followed in the wake of the Kelo decision spanned from left to right and back again on the political spectrum,” The Weekly Standard noted. “It didn’t help that one of the chief beneficiaries of the NLDC’s economic development plan would have been the pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, Inc., which New London had lured into the city via an 80-percent, 10-year property-tax abatement for a $300 million research facility — an expansion of the company’s research operations in Groton, Conn., across the Thames.”
More than 40 state legislatures would later pass laws banning or restricting the use of eminent domain for economic rejuvenation, particularly if homeowners would be displaced. And at least seven states amended their constitutions to ban the use of eminent domain for economic development, with some state courts explicitly rejecting the Kelo ruling as precedent, The Weekly Standard reports
Related to this incident, I read this: “The real problem is that a misguided majority of the Supreme Court has become complicit in giving permanence to the crimes.”
A lesson from the New London property seizure: It’s always about the money. In this case, Pfizer – and no doubt a bunch of money in dirty politicians pockets.
Ken,
agree, whole heartedly. Seems like this is likely the problem with a whole lot of situations/ cities/countries.
The Supreme Court is a joke and has been for some time. They are appointed by a political party so that said political party can push an agenda and “enlighten” us with what they think the founders intended. The Constitution is not for the individual citizen..it is for the government..people need to understand that…our rights come from no man.
Know this, the founders intended exactly what they wrote. They were not rookies when it came to tyranny. It took many years of things to fester before the Revolution kicked off and the first shots were fired. I think we in the liberty movement are a small number of people in this country who know what was intended and cherish what this country was founded on..not what it is today. I personally just want to be left alone. I want to do what I want when I want as long as I do not infringe on the liberty of others….there shouldn’t be a problem.
ran across this headline article recently…seems concerning…
Los Angeles Cops Argue All Cars in L.A. Are Under Investigation

Do you drive a car in the greater Los Angeles Metropolitan area? According to the L.A. Police Department and L.A. Sheriff’s Department, your car is part of a vast criminal investigation.
The agencies took a novel approach in the briefs they filed in EFF and the ACLU of Southern California’s California Public Records Act lawsuit seeking a week’s worth of Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) data. They have argued that “All [license plate] data is investigatory.” The fact that it may never be associated with a specific crime doesn’t matter.
Confiscation in this country can only happen if we let it. It’s as simple as that. People have to be prepared to stand and fight if need be.
