Paul, 52, was sitting in the driver’s seat of his vehicle in a hospital parking lot when a stranger approached and started to get into the passenger’s seat. Paul quickly pulled out his handgun and pointed it at the attempted carjacker. “They said he didn’t have a weapon but I didn’t know that, you don’t have time to think about it. … You’re either a victim or you’re not,” said Paul. “I chose not to be a victim.” He held the man at gunpoint until police arrived. The 33-year-old man had been cited earlier that day for disorderly conduct after pounding on the door of a stranger’s home. He was arrested and charged with attempted carjacking, as well as with tampering with a fire alarm.

Three of the assailant’s accomplices were waiting outside when they heard three gunshots. They then witnessed their co-conspirator stumble out of the home with a bullet wound to his groin before fleeing. Three of the four assailants were later arrested and charged with numerous counts. When Scott’s fiancee realized that their children had awakened due to the disturbance, she took action in an effort to protect them. You will rarely hear, see, or read about these “armed citizen” stories in the mainstream news, other than possibly a snippet on a deep embedded page of your local newsprint.

Reason being: Stories like this do not fit the gun-grabber’s agenda.

There are lots, and lots, and lots of stories similar to these throughout the country in which law abiding citizens use a firearm to defend themselves in situations where they would likely have been hurt or even killed. These are situations where there is not enough time for the police to get there (or to dial 911 in the first place), and immediate self-defense decisions need to be made.

You have a choice.

I choose not to be a victim.

  1. The lamestream media will only report violent gun encounters when the perp is white. Period. I challenge the media to return to honest reporting and the government to publish the real crime statistics rather than the sanitized crap we hear about from the major networks.

November is our last chance to restore some sanity to governance folks.

  2. A report out of Sacramento today says two teenagers, 17 and 14 burglarized an elderly woman’s home. She had been repeatedly burglarized in the past and as recently as this Easter. She had a family member come stay with her due to the repeated burglaries. These two juveniles were both shot and killed inside the residence.

Very unfortunate that these young persons died, but completely justified. The home is a sacred place with sacred borders. When a person crosses those borders, their intentions aren’t known and they should expect to encounter serious defense measures.

    1. What exactly is the unfortunate part? That the homeowner is having trouble finding replacement ammunition? These were people (I use that term in the strictest sense) that the world is better off without.

  3. The new chief of police in Detroit (who used to be a gun hater) told all of the citizens in Detroit to buy a gun. He stated that he has seen more things go on in the city that in 30 years on the force elsewhere he has never seen before. Three people were shot this weekend (1 dead) at the Cinco de mayo parade. The fool shot these people right in the middle of the intersection during the parade. I was talking to a friend today in TN and telling him that he needs to get some preps. He said he didn’t need to because he can fix anything and he will be able to barter for food/water. I asked him if he really thinks these fools are going to have a friendly talk before they shoot him and rape his pretty wife? He thought well maybe he will get a water purifier. It’s a start.

  4. Completely agree Silver Lodge. All to o often the “He was a gooooood boy brigade” is headlined on the news, while the victims family are minimized or even blamed for the criminals death or injuries.

Here in Florida, crime via teenagers and young adults is epidemic. The Sherrifs department and our local police force spend all of their time shaking down law abiding folks on their way to work each day and on their way home in the afternoon, because it pays more to the department. Motorist fines are absolutely beyond punitive, with a construction zone speeding ticket for eight over the limit coming in at a whopping 680 dollars.

I say the cops need to return to fighting crime and pay a little more attention to the demographic group [14 – 26 y.o.] committing the lions share of violent crime.

Ask nearly anyone from Florida and you will hear the same story. It’s all about the speed traps, criminal forfeiture of large amounts of cash [even if you can prove it is yours] and raping people with minor drug charges by forcing a year or two of “random” weekly drug testing and mandatory probation, all of which can cost half your weekly pay. I have two employees doing just that. One guy because his kid brother borrowed his car and left a marijuana butt in the ashtray and the other because he got caught with an open container. Admittedly, the open can of beer was stupid, but the guy blew a .03, but the judge made him do all the usual nonsense anyhow.

The money gets dipped directly from their checks, and they take it after taxes.

  5. There are two important things about weapons to consider before using them. First: You have to train their use, otherwise you are insecure using them. And a potential danger to third persons. Second, and this is even more important: If you carry a gun and draw it, you have to be ready to use it. Otherwise this weapon will be turned against you.

    1. Practice is important. Regularly go to the range. Be familiar with your gun of choice. Become comfortable with it.

I don’t agree with what you said that if you draw a gun, and don’t use it, that it will be turned against you. It’s possible, but highly unlikely. Having said that, if you do draw your gun, you should definitely be ready to use it. Maybe that’s what you meant.

I would venture to say that the majority of criminals will turn their ass around and run when a gun is pointed at them. Or freeze in place out of fear. They’re not going to lunge at you with your gun pointed in their face, which would bring upon them near certain death, unless they are completely nuts (a possibility), which would (should) then quickly result in a long dirt nap in the horizontal position for said criminal.

    2. If possible, flee the scene. The just-us system will try to crucify you anyway.

  6. I do not have a gun,but in my home,I have a Fairbairn/Sykes knife,escrima sticks,a walking stick.In my car I have a legal sized folder,a yawara stick,and billy club,all out of site,but within reach.

  7. A guy I used to work with finally convinced his wife she need to learn how to shoot. She really enjoys it now, has her carry permit. She got pulled over for something, and the cop asked her if she had her gun with her. She said yes. His only comment was “good girl!”.

  8. Frank,
Never take… a Fairbairn/Sykes knife, escrima sticks,a walking stick or a legal sized folder,a yawara stick, and billy club…to a gunfight. It will not turn out well for you.
    God Save this Great Republic

    1. I know-but here in Canada, you CAN get guns, rifles, shotguns, hand guns are hader to get,and you cannot carry them for self-defense.Even using a gun in legitimate self-defense is very tough to get out of in the courts.I still plan on getting a Ruger mini 14 regardless.

  9. Interesting reading all those news clips about people cleaning up the gene pool.

  10. You gotta stand your ground. I find it outrageous that in some states you can’t shoot a violent intruder in your own home without risk of being locked up for self preservation. If someone breaks into my home, if I have half a chance, they will probably not enjoy visiting me uninvited.

I say better still to be in the hands of a jury than pall bearers.

  11. Having read this I believed it was extremely informative.

I appreciate you taking the time and effort to put this article together.
I once again find myself personally spending way
too much time both reading and posting comments. But so what, it was still worthwhile!

  12. Add to the list the story of Lance Thomas who survived 4 attempted robberies at his West Los Angeles Rolex shop before deciding to close his shop and go elsewhere. He was interviewed on Justice Files years ago. He just made the decision that if he was going down, he would take the other person with him.
