Best Whey Protein Supplement Boost

Supplement your protein intake with one of the apparent best Whey protein powders on the market today. Not only excellent for muscle support and post-workout recovery, it’s also an effective protein boost to get up to your daily recommended amount (online calculator and details below).

From a prepping and preparedness point of view, keeping a quantity of Whey protein powder will complement the carbohydrates that you might have stored too. Storing extra carbohydrate foods is easy. Storing extra protein can be somewhat challenging. Whey protein powder may be among the best ways to diversify protein food storage (along with freezing meats, store-canned, and home-canned meats).

One scoop of this protein powder provides 24 grams of protein! That’s awesome. Plus, let me tell you, it tastes great! With plenty of flavors to choose from, you will definitely find something that suits your taste.

Lately, we’ve been buying the Vanilla Ice Cream flavor, which is so good! I’ll tell you how Mrs. J and I each make ours. But first, here’s what I’m talking about:

I buy the 5-pound size, given the container’s convenience. It’s also available in 2-pound and 10-pound packs. The most popular flavor is Double Rich Chocolate (which we also like).

This Whey Protein Powder is considered the best by many

Protein Intake For Every Day, And For Survival Preparedness

The Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for protein is a modest 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight, or 0.36 grams per pound.

The RDA is the amount of a nutrient you need to meet your basic nutritional requirements. In a sense, it’s the minimum amount you need to keep from getting sick — not the specific amount you are supposed to eat every day.

by Howard E. LeWine, MD, Chief Medical Editor, Harvard Health Publishing

From my readings and research (and visual cues), most Americans are consuming too much sugar and too many carbohydrates (I’m guilty sometimes too). Protein (especially protein with a quality nutritional profile) should not be overlooked in the diet. Perhaps some more of that, and a little less sugar and carbs?

For example, salmon, turkey, chicken, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, beans, milk… are all pretty good sources of protein. I enjoy the occasional or sometimes semi-regular periods of indulging in red meat too :-), but like with many choices – all in moderation, right?

In my research, the following statement sounds sensible… “Beef, poultry, and pork (as well as milk, cheese, and eggs) can certainly provide high-quality protein, but so can many plant foods — including whole grains, beans, and other legumes, nuts, and vegetables.” As with so many things, diversification is often the right way to think about it.

Protein is not a bad word.

My personal daily recommended protein intake is calculated to be a minimum of 73 grams. Looks like I better thaw out a Rib Eye for tonight’s dinner ;)

With that said, I’m not saying that Whey protein powder is ‘the’ answer here. Rather, a supplemental way to add some protein to the diet, as well as being a way to keep or store extra protein for the sake of general preparedness and food storage goals.

Best Way To Mix Whey Protein Powder

Well, there’s probably not one best way, but many!

Personally, I find that mixing my Whey protein powder with Almond milk works best, and requires less stirring to get it all mixed up compared to regular milk. I’ve been drinking unsweetened Almond milk for some time now – as a substitute for regular milk. A lot fewer calories and is a healthier choice (in my opinion) for mixing with my fresh fruit desserts (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, Greek yogurt), yum!

Mrs. J will mix (stir in) her Whey protein powder with a serving container of Chobani zero-sugar Greek yogurt all mixed in a small cereal bowl (her dessert).

There are a bazillion recipes to use Whey protein powder. Protein shakes. Just use your imagination!
